“God still ignites men with fire, but can He still find altars to fall upon?”
This is the question echoing across the corridors of the Church today. In every generation, God seeks vessels—yielded, consecrated, purified—on whom He can release His power, wisdom, and glory. He is not lacking in fire. Heaven is never short of revival. But the scarcity is in earthly altars—lives wholly surrendered and fit for divine ignition.
The God Who Still Sends Fire
Throughout Scripture, God consistently revealed Himself as a Consuming Fire (Hebrews 12:29). From Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:18) to the sacrifice of Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:38), and even at Pentecost (Acts 2:3), whenever God found a prepared altar, fire came down.
The problem has never been with the Fire.
It has always been with the altar.
If the Fire Isn’t Falling, Check the Altar—Not the Scripture
God has not changed: “For I am the Lord, I change not…” – Malachi 3:6
If there’s no fire today, it's not because fire never came—it's because the altar is broken.
Just like Elijah repaired the altar in 1 Kings 18:30, we must repair our doctrine, consecration, and intimacy. Only then will the fire fall again.
In Leviticus 6:12-13, God commanded: “The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out.”
In Romans 12:1, Paul calls us to be “living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God…”
The altar is not a physical podium or a raised platform—it is a life laid down.
God does not fall on talent, oratory, or platforms. He falls on yielded lives, broken wills, and consecrated hearts.
The Crisis of the Modern Church: Gift Without Fire
Today’s Church is rich in platforms but poor in presence. We have replaced upper rooms with green rooms, and replaced tarrying with branding. Many young ministers are trained in rhetoric, not in the wilderness. We are fluent in church growth strategy but ignorant of Holy Ghost groaning.
We know how to “light up a crowd,” but do not know how to “light the altar.”
Where are the men and women who:
Weep in prayer before they preach?
Shut themselves in closets until they are endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49)?
Say like Moses, “If your presence does not go with us, do not send us” (Exodus 33:15)?
This generation can speak in tongues but not travail. We host conferences, yet we can’t confront devils.
God is Still Looking
“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap…” – Ezekiel 22:30
God is still searching. Not for celebrities, not for viral preachers, but for sacrificed altars.
Young minister, God does not first call you to a crowd. He calls you to the altar.
Church and Young Ministers needs to be careful of what they listen to. Every message that confuses the clarity of God's Word, dilutes His power, or questions His works, is from the pit of hell.
Our fathers knew this God. They didn’t just preach Him—they saw His fire fall.
Today, we must not trade fire for fame.
You may be unknown, uninvited, and uncelebrated—but if you burn, He will find you. The fire will announce you.
“John was in the wilderness until the day of his showing forth to Israel.” – Luke 1:80
What Does It Take to Be an Altar Again?
1. Consecration: Holiness is not old-fashioned. It is still the foundation of power.
“Be ye holy; for I am holy.” – 1 Peter 1:16
2. Brokenness: God uses only what He breaks.
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit…” – Psalm 51:17
3. Obedience: Fire doesn’t fall on rebellion. Follow every divine instruction, even when it hurts.
"To obey is better than sacrifice…” – 1 Samuel 15:22
4. Intimacy: Tarry in the secret place. Public fire flows from private communion.
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High…” – Psalm 91:1
5. Hunger and Prayer: Fire follows desperation. The apostles tarried until the fire came.
"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness…” – Matthew 5:6
To the Body of Christ: A Wake-Up Call
The Church must return to the days where fire was the proof of calling—not flyers, not numbers, not followers. We must mentor this next generation to seek the God of power, not just the pulpit of prestige. We must return to:
- Fasting that births fire.
- Prayers that shake foundations.
- Lives so yielded that God has no resistance in flowing through them.
Final Charge: Let the Fire Fall Again
God is ready. The heavens are ready. The fire is burning. But where are the altars? Will your life be that altar He can fall upon?
“Set me as a seal upon thy heart... for love is as strong as death… the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.” – Song of Songs 8:6
Let your life burn again. Revival begins with one ignited altar. Be that altar.
