Introduction:
In the heart of Ogun State, once known for peace, agriculture, and community, a sinister storm is brewing. What was meant to be an inheritance for children has become a battlefield. Men roam about in tinted vehicles with forged judgment letters and questionable survey plans. They live in mansions they never labored for, wear clothes funded by other people’s pain, and boast of power. But heaven is watching.
The Modern Day “Ahab and Jezebel” Syndicate
Remember Naboth’s vineyard? (1 Kings 21)
He was a humble man with ancestral land. Ahab wanted it, Naboth refused. Jezebel orchestrated a false accusation and got Naboth killed. Ahab took possession.
This story is repeating today.
“Omo onile” (land syndicates) forge ownership.
They storm lands with thugs and mobile police.
They use forged judgments to dispossess lawful owners.
Some pastors and chiefs now act as land agents, deceiving their members.
But the same God who judged Ahab is still alive.
A True Story from Ogun State (Based on Real Patterns)
Mr. Bamidele, a retired teacher, saved for 30 years. He bought a plot of land to build a retirement home. One morning, he received a call — strange men were fencing his land. He arrived to protest but was beaten by hired thugs. The leader, a so-called land “agent,” waved a court judgment dated 1993 on a completely different location.
He took the matter to court but was dragged for years. The land grabber offered the judge bribes and began building a mansion on the land. Mr. Bamidele died of high blood pressure a year later.
But three years later, the so-called “agent” was found dead in his swimming pool—drowned mysteriously. His children are now in court fighting over properties he stole.
> What shall it profit a man to gain the whole land and lose his soul? (Mark 8:36)
Why Is This Happening?
1. Greed and Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome
Many youths no longer want to work.
Land is seen as fast cash—sell today, buy cars tomorrow.
2. Spiritual Ignorance
They forget the land belongs to God (Leviticus 25:23).
Killing or cheating someone over land is a blood covenant with destruction.
3. Failure of Leadership
Many local leaders protect these agents for cut of the proceeds.
Government officials take bribes, and justice is delayed.
4. Corruption in the Church
Some pastors and prophets now endorse land grabbing.
They collect offerings from looted wealth without asking questions.
God's Law on Land and Blood
Deuteronomy 19:14 – “Do not move your neighbor’s boundary stone.”
Micah 2:1-3 – “Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil on their beds...they covet fields and seize them.”
Numbers 35:33 – “Bloodshed pollutes the land.”
You may build a house on stolen land, but your peace will rot beneath the foundation.
Warning to the Youth:
Young man, young woman:
Don’t become a “land agent of blood.”
Don’t let your hands be stained by injustice.
Don’t collect money to chase widows, orphans, and elderly off their land.
Ecclesiastes 3:15 – “God will call the past to account.”
What you sow, you will reap.
Message to the Church and Pastors:
Stop praying over stolen lands.
Stop hosting land grabbers in pulpits and dedications.
Stop issuing fake spiritual cover to wickedness.
Call sin what it is—land bloodshed is murder.
A Call to Repentance:
1. Return what you have stolen.
2. Apologize and make restitution.
3. Ask God for mercy before judgment falls.
4. Report syndicates, don’t join them.
5. Build honestly. Build legally. Build with peace.
Closing Reflection:
A generation that builds houses by oppression will raise children who die by confusion.
A church that blesses stolen land will lose authority in heaven.
A youth that kills for land will not live to enjoy it.
Prayer:
O Lord, cleanse our land from blood. Expose every evil agent stealing inheritances. Let justice roll like a river. May the Church rise again to defend the weak. And may the youth of our land seek righteousness above riches. Amen.
