Text: Genesis 26:1-14
“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great…” – Genesis 26:12-13
Introduction:
We are in a season where the winds of economic hardship, inflation, and instability blow fiercely. The cries of scarcity, fuel hikes, and failing systems fill the air. Yet, amid these storms, some people are not just surviving—they are thriving. They are not complaining—they are conquering.
Dear believer, let me remind you: In every war, there are victors and victims. Which one will you be?
1. The War Economy Still Has Open Doors
There has never been a time in history when war, famine, or economic crisis stopped God from blessing His people.
In Genesis 26, there was famine. But Isaac was instructed to stay and sow.
Instead of joining the chorus of complainers, he obeyed. And in the same year—the same year of hardship—he reaped a hundredfold.
God did not need the environment to change before Isaac prospered. He needed Isaac’s obedience to activate covenant prosperity.
2. Your Covenant Is Stronger Than the Country
God blessed Isaac because of Abraham's obedience (Genesis 26:5). Isaac walked in that blessing through obedience and alignment.
Nigeria may be shaking, but God is not.
The economy may be falling, but the covenant is standing.
Stop watching the news more than you watch the Word. The news will feed your fear, but the Word will stir your faith.
3. Stop Complaining—Start Taking Territories
Many Christians have become economic analysts instead of kingdom ambassadors. Complaining is not a gift of the Spirit!
Where are the Josephs who will interpret dreams and govern in Egypt’s famine? Where are the Daniels who will rise in Babylon? Where are the Esthers who will influence policy?
God is raising people not to escape the economy, but to take advantage of it.
What if what you're calling “hardship” is actually your door to dominion?
4. Learn to See Like God Sees
Problems are often opportunities in disguise.
The wealthiest people often rise in the worst seasons because they think differently.
Caleb and Joshua saw giants but believed they were bread (Numbers 14:9). Others saw defeat; they saw lunch.
If God opens your eyes, you will see land where others see drought, businesses where others see bankruptcy, and light where others only see darkness.
5. What Should You Do Practically?
Sow like Isaac – This is the time to invest in ideas, partnerships, and ventures inspired by God.
Obey God’s instructions – One divine idea can shift your financial story.
Avoid fear and follow faith – Fear paralyzes, but faith energizes.
Be a problem-solver – Money flows to solutions. Ask: What problem can I solve in this economy?
Conclusion:
God has not changed His plan because Nigeria is hard. You are still called to be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue, and have dominion (Genesis 1:28).
War or no war, you are a covenant child. You are designed to prosper in famine, rise in crisis, and shine in darkness (Isaiah 60:1-3).
Prophetic Declarations:
I refuse to be a victim of the economy.
I operate under heaven’s covenant, not Nigeria’s budget.
I will see opportunities where others see obstacles.
I will prosper in the land like Isaac did—hundredfold in the same year.
Final Word:
Tell the complaining Christian beside you:
“This is not the time to weep; it’s time to work. Not the time to curse the land, but to conquer it. Not the time to sit in fear, but to sow in faith!”
