Scripture: "But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him." – 1 Corinthians 12:18
INTRODUCTION:
Just like the earth responds differently to rain and sun, so also every individual is wired uniquely by God.
When the rain falls, the land becomes soft, cool, and refreshed. But when the sun shines, the same land dries up, hardens, and heat intensifies. Does this make rain better than sun? No. Each was given authority over a particular function.
Rain brings growth, while sun brings ripening. Both are necessary. Both have their time. Both are powerful.
So it is with you, dear youth.
God didn’t make you to be a copy of anyone else. You are uniquely designed for a purpose that only you can fulfill.
KNOW YOUR DESIGN — EMBRACE YOUR DIFFERENCE
"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee..." – Jeremiah 1:5
You are not an accident. You are a divine intention. Stop comparing yourself to others.
- David was a shepherd, not a soldier, but he was still God’s choice to defeat Goliath.
- Moses stammered, but he was the mouthpiece to kings.
- Esther was just a village girl, but she was crowned to save a nation.
Your difference is not your disadvantage — it’s your divine design.
EVERY GIFT HAS A PLACE — FIND YOURS
"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us..." – Romans 12:6
Rain is not sun, and sun is not rain — but both are necessary. In the same way:
- Don’t try to sing just because your friend sings. Maybe you're a writer, a builder, a prayer warrior, a planner, a counselor, or an organizer.
- Don't despise your lane. Running in another man's track will only lead to burnout or disqualification.
You will only flourish in your lane.
AUTHORITY IS GIVEN FOR ASSIGNMENT, NOT COMPETITION
"He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers..." – Ephesians 4:11
Notice that? “Some”. Not “all”. Your assignment determines your authority.
You don’t need to compete with anyone. Rain never competes with the sun — they both take turns. Wait for your time. Be faithful in your role. What you call small, God may call significant.
DANGERS OF JUMPING LANES
- Confusion: You end up not knowing who you are anymore.
- Frustration: You try to produce results with grace that was never given to you.
- Delay: God won’t bless who you pretend to be. He blesses your true self.
Example:
King Saul tried to function in Samuel’s lane by offering sacrifices. God rejected him.
Uzzah touched the Ark out of good intention — he died instantly.
Stay where God placed you.
CELEBRATE DIVERSITY — HONOUR OTHER PEOPLE'S LANE
"The eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee..." – 1 Corinthians 12:21
Don’t mock or envy others. Rain should never try to outshine the sun. We need each other. The world is a better place when everyone embraces their God-given uniqueness.
CONCLUSION:
God gave everything authority and power — but the portion of man is higher.
You are not the rain. You are not the sun.
You are more — you carry divine image and dominion.
But until you discover your lane, you’ll always wander in confusion.
CALL TO ACTION FOR YOUTHS:
- Stop imitating — start becoming.
- Stop competing — start functioning.
- Stop drifting — start discovering your divine lane.
PRAYER:
"Lord, reveal to me my lane, and give me the strength to run it with joy and diligence. Help me not to compare or compete, but to complete my assignment for Your glory. Amen."
