INTRODUCTION:
There is a growing trend where some ministers, in their zeal to "help God" build His Church, are unintentionally working against His principles. In the name of divine service, they bypass laws, disrupt communities, and compromise integrity. They block roads with church parking, steal community electricity, build on drainage systems, or exploit public resources—all claiming it is for the work of God.
But the question is: Does God need lawlessness to fulfill His purpose?
GOD IS NOT A LAWBREAKER
Romans 13:1-2 says, "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established… Whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted."
When pastors and churches bypass laws and ordinances, they are not helping God—they are hindering His testimony.
2. THE TESTIMONY OF THE CHURCH BEFORE THE WORLD
Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
When the church blocks roads or illegally taps into power lines, what light is that? What testimony is left?
1 Peter 2:12 says, "Live such good lives among the pagans that... they may see your good deeds and glorify God."
ZEAL WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS
Romans 10:2-3: "They have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge..."
Many pastors mean well but act wrongly. Passion is not enough—pattern matters. Jesus built His Church without offending civic law or abusing community trust. He was called a friend of sinners, not an enemy of the community.
WHEN THE ANOINTED BECOMES A STUMBLING BLOCK
The anointing is not a license to break rules.
King Saul lost his throne not because of immorality but because of disobedience in spiritual pride (1 Samuel 15). He thought partial obedience was enough.
"To obey is better than sacrifice."
THE PROBLEMS AHEAD: IF THIS CONTINUES…
Churches will lose credibility in society.
Government backlash will increase against religious institutions.
Young believers will think dishonesty is permissible in ministry.
The world will blaspheme the name of Christ.
We’ll raise a generation of lawless "servants of God."
A CALL TO CHANGE:
Build churches that obey the law and reflect Christ.
Get proper permits. Don’t obstruct roads. Respect your neighbors.
Lead by example—not just in the pulpit but in public behavior.
Teach the flock to honor the law and reflect Christ at all times.
Let’s stop trying to "help" God in ways that hurt His name.
ADVICE TO OTHER PASTORS AND MINISTERS:
God will never support what He did not command.
Let the church be the salt and light, not the irritant of the community.
Do it God’s way. The harvest will still come.
The best help we can give God is to represent Him well.
CONCLUSION:
It is time to return to Christ’s pattern. Obedience, integrity, honor, and truth must lead our ministries. The world is watching—not just what we preach, but how we live. If we are to be defenders of truth, let us start by being true to the laws and to the light of Christ within us.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, forgive us for any way we have misrepresented You. Cleanse us from selfish zeal, pride, and lawlessness. Restore our witness and help us walk in truth, light, and integrity. Use us to build Your Church the right way, that Your name may be glorified in every city and community, in Jesus' name. Amen.
