Text: Psalm 37:1-2, Proverbs 23:17-18, Matthew 6:33
Introduction:
We live in a generation where the display of wealth—no matter its source—has become a tool for enticement, oppression, and false glory. Cultists and evil men flaunt riches stained with blood and injustice. Even more shocking is that some spiritual leaders tell their followers to connect with such people instead of fleeing from them. This is not only dangerous but unbiblical. They are movement recruiting members with their emotional, camouflage and authoritative influence via their social media evangelism.
The Bible says, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them" (Ephesians 5:11).
1. Don’t Envy the Wicked (Psalm 37:1-2)
“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass…”
Their riches are temporal, and their end is destruction. When you envy them, you forget that smoke looks impressive for a while, but it vanishes quickly. What they have is noise, not substance. Do not trade your peace with God for momentary glitter.
2. Their Wealth Has a Price—Blood and Souls (Proverbs 1:10-19)
Many have lost their lives in exchange for the wealth others are displaying. The Bible warns us: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not… they lurk secretly for their own lives.” That flashy car, house, or attire may be soaked in innocent blood. Why desire what God hates?
3. God Is Your Source—Not Man (Philippians 4:19)
Your divine provision does not require compromise. God is faithful. What He gives brings peace, not guilt. “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Your job is not to chase after their flame but to stay in the place where real fire is birthed—God’s presence.
4. True Fire Leaves Impact; Smoke Fades (Hebrews 12:29)
Smoke may rise and make noise, but fire purifies, transforms, and lasts. God is a consuming fire. When His fire rests on you, it doesn't just make you seen—it changes you and others. Let God light your path, not the fake glow of stolen wealth.
5. Disconnect from Evil Associations (2 Corinthians 6:14-17)
We must stop listening to voices that tell us to admire or "connect" with evil people because of what they have. “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.” What fellowship has light with darkness?
6. Divine Reward Is Sure and Lasting (Proverbs 10:22)
“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it.”
Wait for God's time. He is never late. Don’t exchange your eternity for a short-term ride in a car fueled by sin.
Conclusion:
What they have is just smoke—it will fade. But you are called to carry fire, and fire has impact. Don't bow to the noise of cultists or be deceived by the glitter of ungodly riches. Look to God. Stand on His Word. Your reward will not only bless you but generations after you.

- Lord, open my eyes to see the vanity in worldly riches and the beauty of Your provision.
- I refuse to be enticed or oppressed by evil wealth. I choose righteousness and trust in Your timing.
- Set my life on fire for You—let me burn with purpose, not just make noise.
